Ask McDonald's to disclose the 15 key welfare indicators it adopted for broiler chickens and to explain how it is using each one to measure and improve animal welfare.
What happened
Result: Not approved at the annual meeting of 22 May 2024, as Proposal 8: 176,954,527 votes for, 314,787,022 against, 6,170,179 abstentions and 97,578,631 broker non-votes, as certified in McDonald's Item 5.07 Form 8-K. That is 36.0 percent of the shares voted for and against, or 35.5 percent if abstentions are counted in the base.
Not approved. McDonald's board told shareholders that the disclosure the proposal asked for was unnecessary and would not benefit them because of the specific and technical nature of the information requested, and pointed instead to its existing reporting on the broiler chicken welfare commitment it made in 2017.
