Humane World for Animals (formerly The Humane Society of the United States) at Denny's
Ask Denny's to publish measurable, timebound targets for eliminating, or at least significantly reducing, gestation crates in its pork supply, and to report progress on meeting them regularly.
What happened
Result: Not approved at the annual meeting of 15 May 2024, as Proposal 5: 9,675,943 votes for, 33,980,147 against, 1,761,791 abstentions and 2,074,444 broker non-votes, as certified in Denny's Item 5.07 Form 8-K. That is 22.2 percent of the shares voted for and against, or 21.3 percent if abstentions are counted in the base.
Not approved. The Accountability Board, which was not the proponent, told Denny's shareholders in an exempt solicitation that it would vote for the proposal because adopting it would better align the company with restaurant industry peers and with emerging regulation on pig confinement.
