Vote against the pay packages of the S&P 500 chief executives the report ranks as most overpaid, ranked on excess pay against total shareholder return, the share of votes already cast against the package, and the ratio of chief executive pay to median employee pay.
What happened
Result: The report says 21 S&P 500 companies saw at least 50 percent of their shares reject the chief executive's pay package in the year covered, a 25 percent increase on the 16 in the previous report, and that BlackRock voted against only 5.7 percent of S&P 500 pay packages in 2022 and Vanguard against only 4.8 percent.
The report cites Activision Blizzard cutting Robert Kotick's pay from 154 million dollars to under 1 million after nearly half of shareholders voted against the package, and Chipotle cutting its chief executive's pay from 38.3 million to 17.8 million after a shareholder vote.
