FAIRR Initiative at Darden Restaurants

FAIRR asked twelve of the largest North American quick-service restaurant companies to adopt company-wide antibiotic policies aligned with World Health Organization guidance across six animal proteins, to extend those policies to their global supply chains, and to show implementation through target setting and auditing.

What happened

Result: No shareholder vote: this is a collaborative investor engagement. FAIRR's Phase 2 progress report found that while 10 companies have a policy for broiler chickens, 50% of the QSRs do not have a public policy covering any of the other proteins.

No company currently discloses antibiotic use data, and no new time-bound targets have been introduced since Phase 1 of the engagement.
